Some nice visuals.

The first parts especially were good clips, but the quality seemed to decline for the middle parts (especially in terms of coloring--some of those gradients were very... iffy...).

One of the easiest things to fix that would've really added a lot, though, would be to ease more of your tweens. Especially when mixed with FBF, un-eased tweens look really artificial. :0

Keep up the good work. Good luck on trying to complete your projects. I know what it's like to never finish anything. :S

JazLyte responds:

There's an explanation for that, the first scenes were made fairly recently, and the middle was as far back as half a year ago. Thanks for the review.

I'm sorry, but...

This might be too awesome?

The writing is really funny, and I thought the visuals had some pleasant quirks. The best part for me, though, was definitely the voices. The wife and the shark, both absolutely perfect.

Two questions:
1) What's she doing in the abortion room? Going into labor or something?
2) What's the deal with that animation that goes when I press Replay?

Sticky responds:

1) Being scared. That's how I animate scared.
2) It was to make people send me meat in the browser based game KingdomOfLoathing.com but to this day no one is yet to send my anything :(

Not bad.

It was pretty good, as is most of your stuff. It was amusing and the visuals were pleasant enough.

In at least one recording, there was some noticeable static. Maybe forgot to noise removal there or something.

I'm still waiting on your switch to masking for those blinks, btw. I remember giving that suggestion a LOOONG time ago. It'll look better and be easier to animate, so I dunno what's holding you back. Heh. If you need help or something, I could show ya, but I figure by now you probably know how to do it.
If you do finally switch to masking, I recommend making the masked part the eye pupils and white parts and actually having the eyelid behind it without the mask. That way, you could open the eyes with a single shape, and close the eyes by shrinking the shape.

Good luck to ya.

JKR responds:

Woops, I didn't notice the static at all. Yes, I sometimes forget the noise removal when I'm recording a whole cartoon. Do you know what line?

I see you're my "blink suggestion" guy. I always remember you specifically when I submit things to Newgrounds, you know. Figuring you'll show up and remind me, and I'll have to apologize again for not doing it! I just always have such trouble going back in to alter character models, because I'm so busy just doing the cartoons. Sorry! But I do still want to make it better, when I have the time. Could you explain it a little further to me? Maybe with a picture, if you have time? I can't seem to get the whole idea in my head, aside from just using a mask. If you don't have the time, that's okay, I'll try some things and hopefully it will work.

Glad you liked the cartoon, though, blinking aside. :)

Seemed like a pretty average movie to me.

The animation was very minimal (even for tweens, which don't have to be simple), and the concept gets boring pretty fast. It's established that he is excited about the game. And... that's the movie. Narratively and visually, it's just dull and gives off an "elementary" feel. I don't get why this movie is so highly-rated.

To clarify; there's nothing inherently wrong with making a movie with low detail or purpose. I just don't think such should be so positively reinforced. If you want a high score, you should earn it.

Suggestions: make more actually happen in your movie, use easing on your tweens, add detail, polish your lip syncing, start with a more interesting premise (and/or finish).

TITROTU responds:

You're right, man. When I first submitted the movie it got a score of 3.70. At the time I thought it was a respectable score due to the fact that I only spent a week on it. Half the time I rushed through production just to make the deadline. (That's a terrible way to design, I know) However, once the movie was featured on the front page, the score went up. I honestly don't believe I deserved such a high score, but then again I can't control how the users vote.

Thank you for the review. Your advise has been very helpful.

Hate to sound harsh, Ross, but...

That was a really, really generic WoW skit. The over-exaggerated roleplaying, the 14-year-old with obesity and acne... these are things that have been made fun of countless times before in much funnier ways.
If you're gonna do video game humor, you're gonna have to try harder if you want to be fresh or funny. Sorry, mang.

RubberNinja responds:

Yeah, WoW is a dead horse. But there was a lot of demand that I touch on it for the show.

I think you should reevaluate your style.

Your story's not terrible, the voice actors are great, and the colorizing and shading are solid. However, the animation itself lacks taste and dynamics. You use way too many positively-eased tweens without starting them up with negatively-eased tweens, and you over-animate breasts to an extreme (particularly when the sisters are walking in; who has boobs that even move remotely like that?). Normal character movements tend to be overly simplified (to the point where the paddling scene was just the entire ship being tweened as a whole), and your lip syncing doesn't look right at all (like a re-dubbed foreign cartoon). Just because you have anime influence doesn't mean you have to take up all their flaws.
You also had some narrative issues... The paddling scene itself seemed very sudden--they went from planning their escape to the act of escaping in a complex and well-built boat; where did that come from? It's one thing to use ambiguity to make narrative thought-provoking, but this just seemed to be a causality gap.
Your antagonists (the prison guards/interrogators) seemed too obtuse and static for interesting conflict. Perhaps you should make use of more complicated enemies next time.

I understand that the movie is about being sexy and funny and all that, but I just think the overall quality seemed kind've sub-par at this point, even in its purpose; the breasts just look too fake in their movements to seem at all sexy, and the only noteworthily funny part to me was a random bit in the epilogue.
You draw the characters cleanly, but you don't animate them as well as you should. It felt almost like I was watching a webcomic that was quickly converted into a flash... like the animation was an obstacle for you instead of a tool to overcome the limitations of still pictures.

I realize that this movie already appeals a lot to the typical newgrounder as is, and I understand if you won't listen to me, and I wouldn't be surprised if I got some "unhelpful!" flags, but I thought I'd just be honest and hope something good comes of it. Good luck to you in the future.

Sirkowski responds:

I usualy don't answer bad reviews, but since yours doesn't contain insults I'll make 1 exception. Not because I think I can change your mind, but because I want to share my point of view. Animation IS an obstacle. Limited animation = more episodes. The most important thing for me is to tell stories. The rest is details. I tried doing frame-by-frame, it was too long and nobody really cared. Everything you see in this episode is done on purpose. If the mouth movements are random, it's a choice. If there's too many loops, it's a choice. So if it sucks, it's on purpose. If you don't like it, there ain't much I can do. You'll have to accept you don't like Miss Dynamite, because I can't do what you like.

It was good, but I actually liked the 1st more.

I'll admit the "what's a berd?" giggle face and mutter was a really funny spot, as was the Pythagorean bit. However, most of the movie lacked some of the style things I liked about the first one.

First off all, "peanut butter and jelly sandwich," as an exclamatory phrase, is considerably less funny and overall lamer than "cabbage patch kids."

The antagonists in this one weren't very funny, unlike the first one, and the beginning parts just weren't nearly as memorable as "hate you so much it's unreal" and "major hard-on" and the like.

I dunno. Maybe I just liked the first too much. Hell, just the way he said "It's, uh, only part one though," and kept that happy open mouth look was funny to me. That was in the "bullet in liver" part, yeah, but in that context it makes sense, and coherency is less funny.

Back to the Future references are always nice, but I still miss Office Space music. :[

Visuals and audio were nice, as usual. One suggestion: use easing. You seem to use a lot of flat-lined tweens. Those never look as good.

Overall, it was good, but it's probably not something I'd send to my friends and quote, like the first one. :0 Hopefully we'll see what happens Tankmen 3.

P.S. Have you completely given up cock/gay jokes? Having one or two doesn't hurt.

JohnnyUtah responds:

believe me i EASED practically everywhere. maybe just not a few spots in the beginning because of the complexity of the layers and lining it all up.

u guyz wer such a cute cuple :'('''''''

Seriously, though, that was really funny.

sombody11223344's review is also very funny.

Tomorrows-Nobody responds:

Haha, he's 13

I can see the effort and ability, but...

There are quirks about your visual style that seem weird to me. I think you make the characters tween around too much when they're just talking or sitting there, and the mouth animation feels a little unnatural. In general, it feels like the characters are actually over-animated, which isn't something I usually say.

The movie also is uneasy for me with characters: Most/all of them are too weird or stupid to relate to, and the antagonist is just downright alienating. Maybe it's just me, but in general, it all made the movie feel too weird to actually be very funny.

With all that said, though, the movie is definitely over par.

BaconMask responds:

Tweening is like a seasoning, it's true. And this toon might be a touch overseasoned.

"So then I says to Mavis, I says...

'Why don't you make like a tree... and get outta here?'"

Well done.

For me, the diarrhea wasn't the funniest part: It was the "epic" followed by the inhaling and mouth noises.

Voice acting can add a lot to the funniness of a movie, and I think you pulled this one off nicely.

Cheers.

SardonicSamurai responds:

Finally someone who took note in the Epic :D

I gave a guy in the comments list a cookie earlier, but you can have his:

( : : )

It's chocolate chip :D
